Type 7 | 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport: 959 Paris-Dakar Poster

75 years ago, Porsche were barely settled into their first real factory, one model to their name, and someone had the nerve to suggest they take it to Le Mans.

What followed is, at this point, almost impossible to summarise. The breadth of what Porsche have built in motorsport is so vast and so relentlessly impressive that racing and Porsche are more or less inseparable concepts now. Trying to distill three quarters of a century into a handful of moments felt like a fool’s errand, but we gave it a go anyway with the new limited Type 7 motorsport poster series honouring the moments that defined that momentous legacy.

Set among the dunes of the Sahara desert, this poster captures René Metge and Dominique Lemoyne aboard the 959 #186 in their successful 1986 Paris-Dakar campaign, when their victory proved Porsche was capable of winning also beyond tarmac.

Designed in-house by the Type 7 team and offset-printed on heavy stock paper, the poster is part of a series of six, available exclusively on Type7.com and at selected events worldwide.
