“Aesthetically speaking, the 944 is a strong representation of the time period it was commercialized in.” Says Damon Way, owner and creator of the astonishing DSORDR_944. “There is a 1980s futurism to it that tears it away from any other car during that time, pairing it perfectly with Blue Order’s New Monday. This is really apparent when comparing it side-by-side with the 928, which is clearly reflective of the 1970s - like ABBA to New Order in a continuum that rolls up pop culture into fashion, art and design in a perfect syncopated way.”

Damon Way’s Porsche 944 collection consists of two cars. The first, a three litre S2 for daily driving duties. That car is more or less stock. The same can’t be said for the other, a 2.5 litre safari-style build in the same shade of black, adorned on the bonnet with the cover art from Joy Division’s iconic Unknown Pleasures.

“I didn’t know what the concept for the car would be out of the gate, I just knew I didn’t want something predictable like a Rothmans livery,” adds Damon.

“I was just looking at the Unknown Pleasures album cover one day, and like a lightbulb it flashed. I knew in that moment what it would be, as the conceptual aspect of it just made sense when considering its off-road nature paired with those ‘mountains’.”
