Grace Ma tells us why her unique 911 GT3 holds such a special place in her Porsche collection.

“The GT3 is the only naturally aspirated 911 I’ve owned. I love the feedback and immediate response that comes with it. It absolutely takes more effort to drive, but the sense of reward and accomplishment after stepping out of it is one of the best feelings in the world!”

A frequent staple of the New York Porsche community, Grace Ma is quite hard to miss in her Jade Green 992 GT3. It’s the latest in a number of Porsches she’s owned new since beginning with a 718 eight years ago and for the most part she’s been making a point of specifying stand out colours every time she faces an order form.

“I tend to gravitate towards brighter coloured cars, especially in sports cars, I feel that’s what they should be!” Explains Grace. “I had a 991 GT3 in Miami Blue and enjoyed it, but when the opportunity came around to spec a 992 in a PTS colour, I couldn’t say no. This coupled with the fact that I think this is the best all around sports car money can buy makes it a keeper.

It’s so easy to daily. I can take it on a crisp morning drive carving up the mountain roads and then a few minutes later be at the farmer’s market picking up produce because there’s so much storage in it compared with other cars in its class. I love the way it looks, I love how easy and engaging it is to drive with its manual gearbox, nimble chassis and ability to rev to 9000 RPM. If perfection was a package, this is it.

It began in 2017 when I bought my first Porsche, a 718 Cayman S. Everything about that car felt right the moment I drove off the lot, it’s so memorable even to this day.”

Grace Ma fell into Porsche ownership almost accidentally that day. She began her morning in a dealership for another German car maker with her heart set on buying a specific model - 20 minutes later however, she was still standing around the sales floor with nobody offering to show her around. So she left, walked a few blocks south and ended up at a Porsche dealer in Manhattan where she was much better attended to. 10 Porsches later, she still hasn’t looked back.

“The tight knit, global community that surrounds these cars has welcomed me with open arms. I’ve not seen or experienced anything like it with another brand. The product is just so well made that it seems to unite people, it’s incredible when you think about it.

All of the track days I’ve done in my Porsches have been incredibly memorable. Being able to push the car in more extreme environments and experience first hand how well these machines react is quite special. I’ve tracked my Targa GTS and 718 GT4 RS in the past, they were both PDK which I prefer for the track so I can focus all my effort on hitting the right lines.

I’ve also traveled to Lapland in the arctic circle to participate in the Porsche Ice Experience 3 separate times. Being able to experience first hand how the Turbo S, GT3, GT4 and Taycan all perform in that environment on studded tyres was something else. Beyond the cars though, the friendships I’ve made from these driving experiences have been very special. I’ve stayed in touch with many of the other people I met and now have Porsche friends I regularly meet up with when I return to Europe.”
