Daniel Clarke’s G body 911 is no garage queen.

“I’d love to be the next guy to hit a million kilometres in a 911” said Daniel Clarke when we first met him. For nearly 20 years Dan has been working for Porsche specialists Parr in the UK, but it wasn’t until about 7 years ago that he finally picked up a 911 of his own.

The car had belonged to a customer, and his only parting words for him were “make sure you put some miles on her for me boy!” - A request Dan has held to ever since. The car plays several roles in his life. It is a commuter, a weekend getaway machine, and something to drop the kids off at daycare (hence the car seats in the back).

A perk of the day job means Dan gets to experience everything from brand new Porsches to early 356s. Still, there’s only one era that he continues to gravitate towards. “As much as I appreciate the newer cars, my passion is for air cooled 911s. There’s something about them that you can’t replicate. There’s the smell, the feeling of the key as you put it in the ignition, the mechanical whirr of the sunroof, even the simple act of pulling the light switch out of the dash. All these little things speak to me.”

Naturally Dan’s car is mechanically well maintained, but the bodywork retains all the scuffs and battle scars of a car that sees true daily use. “It’s one of those cars that has adapted to our family life, and we’ve already made so many fantastic memories in it. I look forward to making even more.”
